The Indian freedom movement was a movement that had the participation of every caste, class, and religion. This movement truly shaped our national imagination. Thousands of revolutionaries and freedom fighters fought for the dream of an Independent India.

As we complete 75 years of Independence, we must keep remembering those true heroes.

Shaheed Smarak is a memorial located on the MAMC campus that remembers the unsung heroes of the freedom struggle.

This was the place where many revolutionaries were hanged as the place served as the Phansi Ghar of Old Delhi jail.

Among the many patriots who were hanged here, included revolutionaries charged under Harding Bomb Case.

In this famous incident, bombs were hurled at then Viceroy of India on December 23, 1912. The Viceroy survived the attack but the freedom fighters Amir Chand, Avadh Bihari, Bal Mukund, and Basant Kumar Biswas responsible for this act were arrested and were later hanged at this place.

Shafiq Ahmed charged in Allaman Editor Murder Case was also hanged at this place.

Many more freedom fighters and revolutionaries associated with Bhagat Singh's Hindustan Socialist Republican Army and Subhash Chandra Bose Indian National Army (INA) were also hanged at this place.

Zuhur Ahmed, Chattar Singh, Nazar Singh, and Major Durga Malla from INA were charged under the enemy agent act and gave sacrifices for the Nation at this place.
